On 08. April 2015, the French TV station TV5 became the victim of a cyber attack by the cyber arm of the so-called Islamic state djihadist terrorist group. TV5′s internet site, as well as its social networking presence were pirated, but more importantly, its eleven TV channels normally accessible in 200 countries and territories went dark for an extended period of time.
The psychological impact of this sophisticated attack on a symbol of French civilisation and the values it represents was strongly felt, especially in the countries of the Middle East and Northern Africa.
Maybe TV5 should have more carefully followed the recommendations of the Agence nationale de la sécurité des systèmes d’information ?
